gli aranci sono carichi di fiori e frutti; oltre ad essere frutti del Giardino degli Esperidi, le arance amare sono sacre a Venere e ricordano le pene d'amore, simboleggiano il matrimonio ed infine erano i frutti dei Medici perché somigliano alle palle dorate del loro stemma;
il mirto è sacro a Venere: con questa pianta la dea coprì la sua nudità al momento della sua nascita dal mare ( come Ovid tells us in "fast"); the myrtle is also a symbol of marriage, love and sexual desire;
