L'area murgiana e' stata sottoposta negli ultimi anni a forti sollecitazioni di tipo culturale e progettuale che hanno aperto una nuova frontiera di sviluppo basata sulla valorizzazione dei beni ambientali e culturali, aggiuntiva rispetto allo sviluppo delle attivita' manifatturiere. A conclusione del Master, dal convegno e' scaturito un documento, sottoscritto dagli organizzatori del Master e dagli esponenti politici, che candida Altamura e la Murgia a polo culturale di eccellenza insieme alla Terra delle Gravine ed in sinergia con l'area materana. Il progetto si pone come ''naturale evoluzione dei passi gia' compiuti negli anni precedenti'' tra cui il Piano integrato settoriale 'Habitat Rupestre'. L'obiettivo centrale della proposta Interregional and Operational Program 'to create conditions''to reposition the Murgia area in high places of tourist facilities in national and international''through the creation of interregional networks of excellence attractors, by the activation of productive chains inter-connected policies and the enhancement of quality tourism 'that are possible only with''interventions with sufficient critical mass''and by a single policy for marketing and tourism marketing.
